Flood in August 2017. From 25 July to 5 August, heavy rainfall in Laos led to floods in several provinces, affecting human life, housing, agriculture and infrastructure. The worst affected provinces are Udomxay, bolikansai, secon, atape, sarawane, chambasek, sayabuli, Vientiane and Kammon. More than 100000 people were affected and at least four people were reported dead.
Flood in August 2016. Heavy rains and floods have affected the northern provinces of Laos and Vietnam, killing at least six people. The ASEAN disaster management Humanitarian Assistance Coordination Center reported that the rainstorm in Laos from August 11 to 12 had affected 4977 people in 22 villages in shayabuli and Luang Prabang. Floods were also reported in Udomxay. According to the ASEAN humanitarian relief coordination center, the Lao government has mobilized resources and manpower to help the affected people. Military and police rescue efforts give priority to evacuating people to safer areas. The government mobilized medical teams to provide medical services to the community, and the flood affected people received relief supplies.
Floods and landslides in August 2015. The continuous rainfall since early August has triggered floods in 118 villages in 12 counties of Hupan Province, bolikansai Province, Kammon province and lonnanta province. Monsoon rains continued, and the country suffered heavy rains for almost ten weeks. The passing typhoons "Feiyan" and "mangosteen" also exacerbated this situation and brought more rainfall to the area. More than 350000 people across the country were affected by the floods. The floods also caused great damage to transportation, infrastructure, education and agriculture. More than 15000 hectares of rice fields were destroyed and thousands of livestock died. In addition to irrigation systems, toilets, wells and reservoirs, seven bridges and nearly 1200 kilometers of roads were also damaged. More than 60 schools were reportedly destroyed and equipment and books were lost.
2013 storm. In 2013, five major storms swept across the country, resulting in serious floods in 12 of the country's 17 provinces.
